The COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our daily lives and that includes local businesses.
Co-owner of the Fort Rose Sugar Bush Nelson McLachlan says they’ve lost a significant amount of their annual revenue because of the pandemic, leaving them to close their doors.
He says they remain open only to sell maple syrup, calling COVID-19 a “perfect storm,” that puts an end to a good season to all maple syrup producers.
While the government has announced financial support for small businesses, McLachlan says that funding will not likely come soon, and no kick back will make up the revenue of a normal season brings in.
