Gotham Barbershop is the newest addition of businesses in Strathroy. Located right behind M&Ms at 305 Caradoc Street South, Owner and barber Dez Prashad spent a few months living in town while working in London before moving to the city and that’s when he fell in love with the area. Having owned three shops before in different cities over his 20 years of cutting hair, Prashad fully intends on making Strathroy his final stop. He feels he will fill a gap he thinks missing in the local hair cutting game.
His shop, named after his affection for the Batman universe and opening Friday, will be operating 7 days per week for the first two weeks to fill the COVID-19 demand, before beginning regular store hours. He’s spacing out appointments to allow for potential walk-ins in that time to keep a flow of people coming in and out. Prashad views gearing to open up a new business during the pandemic as a blessing, as he didn’t have the unfortunate concerns other operating businesses have with financial constraints.
