
More property crimes have been committed in Strathroy-Caradoc this year than at the same point last year, and by a big margin. According to a report submitted to the Police Services Board, There’s been 208 total property crimes reported from January to May 2020. That’s up from 167 in the same time span in 2019. Strathroy-Caradoc Police chief Mark Campbell says a spike in property crimes is common, when other issues in the community are also more prominent.
He says as an organization they’re collaborating with community partners to find solutions to the issues the municipality faces, which Campbell says are also seen in larger urban centres as well as small towns. There’s also been 28 drug related charges this year compared to six in 2019, also in the same time span.
