Lambton Shores mayor Bill Weber isn’t too happy with the influx of visitors from the Grand Bend beach this past weekend. While he said most people did their absolute best to maintain social distancing, an unprecedented number of charges were issued by by-law officers, as the beach saw a significant Sunday crowd.
Weber says the municipality knew there would be an influx of people visiting when the weather turned after being stuck inside for so long, and other local beaches that were open saw an impact too. He told myFM he wishes people would use common sense and simply visit another day if they see a crowded beach and to consider others. He added closing things down, similar to what occurred last week in Sauble Beach, is something Lambton Shores would consider if people don’t maintain COVID-19 regulations.
