Voluntary COVID-19 testing of Thames Valley students and staff who are asymptomatic or without obvious symptoms begins March 10th. The Ministry of Education has mandated school boards make targeted voluntary asymptomatic testing available for two per cent of in-person students in elementary and secondary schools each week. School locations have been selected in collaboration with local public health units and will include children and staff from child care centres located in schools. Testing will take place each week on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at designated secondary schools where students from selected elementary schools will also be invited to be tested. Parents will be notified by email on Monday each week if their child is eligible to be tested. The email will contain links for online registration that should be completed prior to testing.
