We are expecting an abnormally hot summer, and the past two days we have been under extreme heat warning, so today will not be the last of the hot days for us. But it’s important during these heat waves to know how to protect yourself and others, and how to stay healthy.
Randy Walker, a Public Health Inspector with London Middlesex Health Unit says that massive shifts in temperature like this can impact anyone, but people with pre-existing health conditions or people who can’t get out of the heat will be impacted more than others.
Some tips he had for staying safe and healthy are to only get direct sunlight in small doses, if you are outside stay in the shade on grass as asphalt and concrete double in temperature and drink lots of water, but in small short sips.
