The Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service has issued some advice for the public on how to protect your vehicle from theft. Recently the SCPS, along with other surrounding jurisdictions have seen an increase in auto theft, with the main target being older style GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado Pick-up trucks.
The SCPS recommends that you keep your vehicle locked and secure, remove all valuables and access to keys, invest in an audible alarm system, GPS or anti-theft system, park in the garage or use another vehicle to block in your truck or vehicle, never leave it running and unattended, park in a well-lit area, invest in an ignition cut-off system or mechanism for your steering wheel, and add outdoor motion sensor lights and security cameras to your home if possible.
Anyone with information about any theft of motor vehicle occurrences or the suspect(s) involved are asked to contact the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service at 519-245-1250 or Crimestoppers 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
