Three months after a local man was struck and killed while biking, the OPP have arrested and charged an individual in connection with that fatal hit and run on Calvert Drive, in Adelaide-Metcalfe. Back on October 11th, 2021, 45-year-old Johannes (Ewen) Francis Smolders of Strathroy was killed as a result of the collision. On Thursday of last week, investigators took 51-year-old Frederick Earhart from Brooke-Alvinston, into custody without incident. He has been charged with fail to stop at accident resulting in death. He was held in custody and was scheduled to appear for a bailing hearing in Court on Friday.
