The Ontario government is providing up to $673 million in 2022 to long-term care homes to increase staffing levels and improve care for residents, including over $8 million for eleven long-term care homes in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex. From 2009 and 2018, the amount of care each resident received, by all providers, per day increased by only 22 minutes.
Annual funding increases of $270 million in 2021-22, $673 million in 2022-23, $1.25 billion in 2023-24, and $1.82 billion in 2024-25 will make it possible to hire thousands of new staff at long-term homes and increase the amount of care they deliver each year.
New and upgraded long term care beds, and funding dollars will be going to area facilities including Strathroy, Ailsa Craig, Parkhill, Watford, Delaware, Komoka, Forest, Wardsville and more. Here is a complete list of allocations.
