Community Over Cancer 9 – A Night Out is coming up quickly and returning after a few years away due to the pandemic. Happening at the Gemini Sportsplex May 7th, guests will have a meal and live entertainment to raise funds for 5 local families who have had to or are currently battling cancer. Hosted by Tyler Damen and his Chiros Care group, Tyler himself battled Melanoma Cancer in 2006 and 2007 and knows the struggle, and endless costs families go through. He says they are excited to be hosting the event again.
Damen says they are still looking for donations.
When asked about the support from the community over the years, he says he has nothing but gratefulness for the helping community.
The funds raised help to cover all the unpredictable expenses like parking, food, childcare, medication, hotel stays, and the list goes on and on. The funds are to use as each family sees fit. The last time the event ran in 2019, they raised over $140,000 and in total over the history of the event they have raised over $700,000.
Live entertainment will include performances by ‘The Doubts’ and ‘Midwest Dueling Pianos”.
This years honourees are: Sebastian McEcherine, Melanie Cutler, Julia Hoytema, Valerie Cornelius and Robin Cushman Tobias.
