The Komoka Railway Museum has some very exciting news. After two years of lockdowns due to COVID, it is finally opening it’s doors again, says Dan Oatman, President of the Museum. The Komoka Railway Station is one of 3 surviving railway stations outside of London. The other ones being in Glencoe and Thorndale. The Station was built in 1912 and has been preserved. There is also a baggage car that is almost finished being renovated. The Model railroad and the Library will be open. They also have a collection of 3 circus trains. The Museum has been in business since 1986. The Museum also owns a full sized Steam Locomotive.
The Museum is currently planning a ‘Fun Day’ for June 25th to fundraise. An anonymous donor will donate $10,000 IF the Railway Museum can raise $10,000 on their own. That’s a total of $20,000. The CN Rail Police will be coming to do a display on the June 25th Fun Day at the Museum. A display is also coming from the CN Railcar School. One of the Museum members restores and runs ‘railway jiggers’ (Handcar) the carts that you need to manually move by pumping the handle up and down.
