After 12 years and over $1.7 Million raised, ONERUN Founder and Executive Director Theresa Carriere has announced that the beloved Cancer organization is retiring. ONErun began with Carriere, a cancer survivor, running 100 kilometers in one day to raise money to help support cancer patients and their families. What was supposed to be a single year event, turned into a legacy for Carriere. ONERUN raised a total of $1,769,097 for Wellspring, ChildCan, St. Joseph’s Health Care and the London Health Sciences Centre. ONERUN has visited almost 200 schools in 12 years to share the message From Challenge to. ONERUN encourages supporters to continue to donate to the local charities of Wellspring and ChildCan, who directly assist families affected by cancer in our community through both programming and financial assistance.
Theresa Carriere stated, “I am beyond grateful for my family, friends and hundreds of volunteers who committed countless hours of their time, energy and talent for ONERUN. Thank you to the sponsors and supporters who gave generously, each and every campaign. We have been blessed to have had the opportunity to collaborate with so many amazing people, who worked tirelessly to create something incredibly special in ONERUN. Together, we accomplished what we imagined – to reach out to families affected by cancer to offer them a little hope and know they are not alone.”
“Theresa has been an inspiration to us all. She has a gift of motivating and leading people, which has been the reason for ONERUN’s unbelievable success. Theresa has changed the world for so many people and we are forever grateful.”
– Paulette Soscia, ONERUN 100km Journey Project Manager
“The members of Wellspring have directly benefited from ONERUN’s outstanding efforts. ONERUN funds were used to grow the new Wellspring centre space to provide room for increased in-house programming options and peer support rooms to allow people to connect with others on the cancer journey. Without the incredible financial support from the ONERUN team, none of this would have been possible.”
– Tracey Jones, Executive Director of Wellspring London – Cancer Support Centre
“ONERUN has changed my life. I am so thankful to have been a part of sharing ONERUN’s message encouraging the next generation to never give up.”
– Kayla Sibbald, ONERUN School Team Project Manager
“ONERUN has created awareness and hope. The legacy of ONERUN is cemented and the magic of ONERUN is unforgettable. ONERUN will always have a special place in all of our hearts.”
– Brad Arndt, ONERUN Coach
“We have witnessed Theresa selflessly give her heart and soul to this important cause for the past 12 years. Her perseverance through her own battle with cancer, followed by tirelessly working to improve the lives of patients and families who came after her, is heroic. Not only did she improve the lives of so many people affected by cancer, but she also created an environment for us all to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. Anyone who has been involved in ONERUN in any capacity knows how lucky they are to have been associated with something, and someone, so special.”
– Nicole Carriere, ONERUN Communications Coordinator
