We have a seventh wave of COVID upon us and our health care system is struggling.
Nicole Esler is the Patient Care Manager for the Emergency Department at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital.
First off, she says she is NOT discouraging anybody from coming to the emergency room. If you feel it is dire enough to go to the ER, than it is. However, if you don’t think the situation is life threatening there may be options before making a trip to the ER.
The wait times in the ER here in Strathroy has gone up significantly, and the wait times are due to people coming in who don’t need dire medical attention.
But if you feel a situation is dire enough for a visit to the ER, do not hesitate.
Esler also says that with longer wait times and short staff, our health heroes are starting to feel a toll.
It’s important to remember to be kind and have patience with our Health Care Hero’s who do so much for us.
