A new state-of-the-art garbage truck has joined the Bluewater Recycling team. Bluewater has acquired a carbon-negative refuel truck, and President Francis Veilleux says it’s a unique way the truck is fueled.
It’s been on the road for about a month now and has been making great progress. With farmers digesting the cow manure, the methane gas is then used to power the truck. The truck runs on the methane gas saving it from being released into the atmosphere creating a carbon negative truck. Right now, Bluewater recycling is doing a 6 month pilot project with Ontario Waste Management Association and Enbridge Gas Inc. Veilleux says they expect the pilot to be successful and hopefully plan on converting the rest of their fleet onto the new natural gas.
