35-year-old Strathroy woman Alicia Van Bree has pleaded guilty to impaired driving causing death and bodily harm. On July 17th 2020, Van Bree was driving and her vehicle collided with another killing 8-year-old Nihal Toor from Virginia who was visiting family in London. The collision happened at Egremont Drive and Hickory Drive around 10pm after the visiting family was on their way back to London from visiting a friend in Strathroy. Another passenger was also injured in the collision. Van Bree will be back in court November 18th 2022 for her sentencing hearing. Victim impact statements from the family of Toor will also be heard by the court. Van Bree’s trial was supposed to start on November 14th 2022 but on Friday she appeared on Zoom to the court for a hearing on a pre-trial motion on the admissibility of evidence. Van Bree’s lawyer, Ron Ellis, said Van Bree would be pleading guilty immediately.
