With the municipal election for 2022 just days away now, candidates for Ward 2, Deputy Mayor and Mayor in Strathroy-Caradoc got a chance to sit down in front of Ward 2 residents Tuesday night at the Mount Brydges Legion and answer questions to some hot button topics during this campaign. It was somewhat of a slow start to the 7pm event as the majority of the candidates were not ready to go until shortly after the start time, some candidates arrived shortly before 8pm and others arrived to place election signs but never participated in the question and answer period for their own seat. Many local residents attended the event that outgoing and current Ward 2 councillor Neil Flegel says no matter which election and what year, they are all important.
Organizer Karen Karns says the event went very well and the roster of invited candidates was specific to which seats Ward 2 residents would vote for in this election.
Questions ranged from the Mount Brydges Arena, the Strathroy Seniors Centre, candidate commitment, taxes, growth, downtown Mount Brydges commercial issues and transparency.
