At this week’s Strathroy-Caradoc council the Mount Brydges sewage plant was one of the topics of discussion and according to Ward 2 Councillor Larry Cowan, there has been quite a bit of misinformation in the public regarding the plant itself, its operations, and the transportation of sewage from Mount Brydges to Strathroy on what is publicly said to be on a weekly basis. Director of Engineering and Public Works Jake Strauss was asked to clear up that misinformation reporting to council that the majority of work done at the plant is preventative maintenance.
Strauss did confirm re-routing of sewage to Strathroy was happening but not for the reasons people think.
Strauss says recently, the municipality drained out one tank, cleaned and inspected it. It also cleaned out clarifiers, and reject water pits including sludge as well. As far as why not just upgrade the plant, well that is indeed coming as there is a pre-approved $5 million in the capital funds account for upgrading the facility which is currently in the design phase.
