The Alvinston Santa Claus Parade is back this Saturday for its third Drive Thru Parade.
There is a day of festivities planed, but the parade will start at 6pm sharp and go to 7:30pm.
Chad Hayter, Sponsorship Chair for the Alvinston Christmas Celebration, tells myFM that in total, the parade will be about 2km long.
Santa and Mrs. Claus, along with friends Mickey and Minnie, Olaf, and friends from Paw Patrol will be present for photos.
It should take about 20 minuets to complete the whole parade. Hayter says they have some special guests to take you the route as well.
The Alvinston Optimist Club found they served about 3000 people last year doing the drive through parade. Pre-COVID, only about 100 people would come out.
Another reason they decided to stick to a drive thru parade is so they could bring out Pipe & Drum bands throughout the area. The bands are stationary and the parade committee provides heaters for them. This year, there is 11 bands playing.
By having a drive thru parade, you can see the floats, entertainers and all the attractions as many times as you want.
Festive activities start at 1:30pm with a hockey game at the Alvinston Arena. At 4:30pm, the Turkey Dinner drive-thru will start. Catered by Lizzy’s catering out of Thedford. You can purchase tickets here.
There is also a colouring contest for kids in the arena with prizes. A free skate will also be held from 7:30pm to 9:30pm with hot drinks.
