Enbridge Gas has made another considerable donation to Safe Community Project Zero, and they did it on Friday to the Adelaide Metcalfe Fire Department. Mark Ramsay, Operations Supervisor for Enbridge Gas, donated smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to the Fire Department and says the project aims to bring fire related deaths to zero.
Adelaide Metcalfe Mayor Susan Clake was unable to make the presentation at the Kerwood Fire Department. Adelaide-Metcalfe is one of 50 municipalities that will receive a combination of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms for the community. In 2022, it was a record year for fire related deaths. About 50% of the deaths were due to no working smoke alarms in the house.
Ramsay says at Enbridge Gas, safety is the top priority.
It’s recommenced to have fuel burning appliances checked by a licensed contractor once a year and to install and test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms as a secondary defense. Enbridge Gas commends the Adelaide-Metcalfe Fire Department and the Fire Marshal Public Safety Council for their dedication to safety and education on the matter.
