The perfect season….
It’s something every athlete and team hopes for, and this year it became a reality for the Mount Brydges Magic Blades synchronized skating team. The team which is coached by Chrissy Kernaghan is comprised of 15 girls and went on a run this season that could only be labelled as “Golden”.
In November, the girls travelled to Montreal where they skated against 5 other teams and won gold. Two weeks later, they travelled to Brampton where they skated against 7 teams and won gold again. The pattern continued in January, when Kingston was the next stop facing 13 teams and once again won gold. In February, the Magic Blades travelled to Oakville and competed against 12 teams. With their season’s best score of 35.44, they won gold yet again.
Kingston and Oakville were provincial qualifier events, where the top ten teams from the two competitions qualify for the provincials, based on the teams top score. The Magic Blades easily qualified for Provincials, which was held in Stratford on March 25th. The girls skated 3rd out of ten teams, and with their score of 33.3, their final skate of the season resulted in a 5th gold medal and the perfect season. Congradulations to all team members.
