Councillors trained to talk with young people are available online, through a new addictions resource program in southwestern Ontario. CrossingBridges.ca is for young people aged 12-24 with substance and behavioural addictions concerns. Organizers say the program creates a safe space for youth where they can reflect on and process their thoughts and feelings without judgment. The initiative is partnership between Canadian Mental Health Association branches, Thames Valley Addiction and Mental Health Services and Huron Perth Addiction and Mental Health Services.
The team’s addictions counsellors are registered social workers or social service workers with a specialization in working with young people. They will customize a support plan based on each individual’s goals.
