Middlesex County Council has approved staff engagement with the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc to explore wraparound support services, with a focus on diverse housing options. The Middlesex Accommodation Program, a collaborative effort with CMHA Thames Valley Addiction and Mental Health Services, Countryside Motel, and Middlesex-London EMS has received positive feedback.
This program offers emergency/transitional accommodations and comprehensive support to individuals and families at risk of homelessness in the County, having already assisted over 200 individuals. It not only provides immediate shelter, food, and community support but also reduces the strain on local hospitals through community paramedics. Discussions may lead to innovative housing and homelessness support strategies in Middlesex County.
