The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority’s stewardship and tree planting specialists are gearing up for the 2024 season, actively seeking landowners interested in launching projects on their properties. With over 80% of the watershed being agricultural land, these initiatives not only enhance habitats for various species, including those at risk, but also combat soil erosion, safeguard water quality, boost crop yields, and potentially reduce fertilizer usage.
If you’re a landowner keen on making a positive impact, reach out to the Authority staff. They’ll guide you through the entire process, addressing queries on funding sources and available grants to ease eligible project costs. Currently, SCRCA offers funding for diverse stewardship projects, such as shallow wetland creation, riparian buffer planting, erosion control berms, grassed waterways, fencing, and alternative water sources to restrict livestock access to waterways.
