Warwick Township Council has given the green light to the 2024 Budget introducing a 5% tax hike (equivalent to $34.73 per $100,000 of residential assessment) for property owners, contributing an extra $150,000 to the municipality’s revenue. In terms of expenditures, the capital budget amounts to $3,648,210, with $350,000 earmarked for the new salt shed’s construction.
To bolster the Fire Department, Council has allocated an extra $195,000 to reserves, ensuring funds are available for upgrading rescue service vehicles. With an operating budget of $7.88 million and the 5% tax increase in place, the Township anticipates drawing around $371,000 from reserves to cover the Operating Budget’s funding shortfall. Additionally, $400,000 is allocated for improvements to Birnam Line, and $250,000 for enhancements to Brick Yard Line. Significant investments of $1.2 million are directed towards upgrading the Sunset/Erie/St. Clair and John Street watermain infrastructure, while $100,000 is designated for replacing lights at the Warwick Ball Park. Mayor Todd Case acknowledged the challenges of this budget year, noting necessary cuts due to escalating interest rates and an 8% increase in municipal insurance premiums.
