Tuesday night at Strathroy’s Gemini Sportsplex was all about recognition and star power as Strathroy Minor hockey recognized three of their alumni and their hockey accomplishments including being drafted into the NHL by honouring them with banners being hung from the rafters bearing their names.
Due to scheduling conflicts only one player could be in attendance and that was Mount Brydges resident and London Knights forward Easton Cowan who was there with his family, and who was drafted in 2023 by Toronto. The two other honourees Carolina draft pick Noah Carroll and Minnesota draft pick Hunter Haight were represented by family. Cowan told myFM, the evening was pretty special.
Cowan agreed when asked, a journey like he’s had in hockey to this point doesn’t happen without support from family.
Cowan currently has the longest point streak in the last 30 years of Knights hockey currently sitting at 29 games and attributes that success to teammates.
Cowan was very happy to see a large lineup of fans waiting for him at Gemini armed with Knights and Maple Leafs memorabilia for him to sign during an autograph session before the banner ceremony.
