Environment Canada has issued a snow squall warning for our region which is in effect this morning and continues into this afternoon.
Lake effect snow squalls are expected today.
‘
Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate.
Hazards:
Snow with total accumulations of 10 to 15 cm.
Reduced visibility in snow and blowing snow.
Description:
Colder air continues to move into the area with lake effect snow developing this morning. Northwest winds gusting up to 70 km/h will also lead to reduced visibility in blowing snow at times. Conditions are expected to improve this evening.
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
