Residents in Strathroy-Caradoc will likely see their property taxes go up by 4.47% this year. The increase was approved last week at a Strathroy-Caradoc budget meeting and is expected to get the final stamp of approval by council April 4th. The approval comes much later than we’ve been seeing in other municipalities across the province, but there is no set timeframe. Mayor Colin Grantham took to social media to remind residents about the importance of infrastructure spending.
Grantham says he’s happy that they were were able to keep the hike under 4.5%.
Many other area municipalities, including Woodstock and St. Marys were close to being on par with Strathroy-Caradoc while London saw an 8.7% hike and St. Thomas was under 3%.
