Well the downtown Strathroy planters bordering Caradoc Street may not be there for long. The planters themselves that have garnered more negative feedback that positive from area residents have been on Caradoc street for a few years but as of this week’s Council meeting that may not be the case anymore.
Council entertained a motion by Deputy Mayor Mike MCGuire to have staff do a cost analysis on these fixtures with an option that would satisfy the motion including sight lines and turning radiuses into private driveways, mainly stemming from residents and businesses on that stretch of road.
Council also approved the inclusion of the option to remove them completely and finish off the asphalt, and furthermore include the amount of staff time to maintain each option going forward including the current state. A report should be coming back to Council at their next meeting.
