There are two-and-a-half million people in Ontario who don’t have a family doctor. That’s according to the Ontario College of Family Physicians, which says an additional 160-thousand people in the province are without a doctor since the last count was released six months ago. Long-time Strathroy family doctor, Dr. Gary Perkin had this reaction to the numbers.
Dr. Perkin says the demands of the job has ripple effects for newcomers into the field.
As for new family doctors in our area, he adds there is one at Strathroy Medical Clinic taking new patients right now, Dr. Evan Lusty. Another relatively new doctor in Arkona, Dr. Farah Farzadfar has over 1400 new patients.
