LCBO workers are back on the job today after ratifying a new deal with their employer.
The stores will reopen tomorrow, ending a more than two-week strike that left shelves empty and customers thirsty.
The new agreement includes an 8% wage hike over three years, job security with no store closures for the length of the contract, and a significant boost for 1,000 casual employees who are now considered permanent employees.
The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) workers voted in favor of the deal yesterday, ensuring they return to work with better pay and security.
The union had been concerned about the expansion of alcohol sales in the province, which is set to happen in a few weeks, but they are satisfied with the protections they have gained in the new contract.
Both the union and LCBO management expressed relief and happiness that the strike is over.
Customers across our listening area can look forward to their local LCBO stores reopening tomorrow, ready to serve.
