Strathroy-Caradoc council has received an update on all the flood damage from last month, in Cuddy Sports Fields, Alexandra Park, Centennial Park and Victoria Park.
The municipality says the flooding choked out grass, deposited silt in many locations and resulted in the need for playground safety surfacing to be removed. Play sand will also have to be removed and replaced…all at a combined cost of $25,000. An insurance claim will be submitted.
There was also extensive turf damage done at the baseball diamond, picnic tables are missing from a few parks, along with other damage.
The town says the new safety surfacing for the playground is being installed this week (August 8th) and they hope to have the playground and splash pad open again soon.
