This week Strathroy-Caradoc Council had to deal with some upset residents in the Riverview Drive area after “no parking” signs were put up on the street between Marla Court and Lamore Crescent apparently without Council’s knowledge.
myFM did investigate the area to find multiple signs up and both on straight as well as curved sections of Riverview. Council did comment that having parking on both sides of the street could be a hazard. But according to a submitted residential petition, the signs went up in the Spring, they are not currently on a curved portion of the street, and were put up without public consultation, nor going before council with any type of staff report.
CAO Trisha McKibbin stated in council, that the question was posed at a previous council meeting but erecting signs did not go to council for discussion.
Deputy Mayor Mike McGuire.
Councillor Donna Pammer chimed in saying the proper processes need to remain the norm with no detours.
Mayor Grantham moved to have this issue go to the traffic committee to investigate and report back to council.
