A 46-year-old Peterborough man is facing multiple charges following a road rage incident that escalated into violence on Thursday night.
Peterborough Police say the altercation occurred shortly before 8:00 p.m. in the area of The Parkway and the Highway 115 exit.
According to police, a vehicle was being driven aggressively and rear-ended another vehicle driven by a 17-year-old. When the two parties stopped to exchange information, the situation quickly turned violent. The 17-year-old driver was struck several times with a bat by the other driver.
After the assault, both vehicles left the scene, with the suspect following the victim for a short distance before the 17-year-old stopped to call the police.
Through their investigation, officers identified and arrested a suspect in connection with the incident.
The 46-year-old man has been charged with assault with a weapon, careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act, and failing to report an accident. The accused has been released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on October 1st.
