Adelaide Metcalfe Township is set to continue its infrastructure development with new financial support from the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF). This fund, previously known as the Federal Gas Tax, will provide stable and predictable funding for the next decade, without the need for complex application processes.
During the July 15th council meeting, Treasurer Johnny Pereira presented the new Municipal Funding Agreement, a critical step since the previous agreement had expired. Adelaide Metcalfe is expected to receive $94,666 in 2024, with further increases projected in the following years. Over the past years, the township has benefited from approximately $1.76 million from this fund. The council authorized a bylaw allowing Mayor Sue Clarke and the township clerk to sign the new agreement, ensuring continued support.
Treasurer Pereira will manage the necessary forms and reports, with the council unanimously approving the decision.
