A very familiar face is going to be heading up the Belleville Police Service.
Former Peterborough Police Chief Murray Rodd has been selected to replace Acting Chief Chris Barry effective September 16th.
Rodd spent 35 years with PPS, including 10 as chief. He retired on June 20th, 2018.
During his time away from the service, the 60-year-old spent time in the classroom helping educate the next generation at Fleming College and Trent University.
Chief Rodd remarked “it’s an honour to lead, along with Deputy Chief Sheri Meeks, the fine women and men of the Belleville Police Service and serve the people of Belleville. I’m really looking forward to meeting and learning from folks throughout the Service and across the community as we strive to continually improve our collective safety and well-being.”
In addition to this time with Peterborough Police, he also served 21 years of Reserve Military Service, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and commanding Canada’s largest Cadet Summer Training Centre.
