The Peterborough Humane Society has officially opened its Off-Leash Dog Park at the Peterborough Animal Care Centre.
Sponsored by local pet retailer Pet Supply Warehouse, staff say the park is designed to offer a dedicated area for dogs to exercise and socialize freely.
The Off-Leash Dog Park is one of the latest additions to the PACC and aims to promote healthy activities for both pets and their owners. Shawn Morey, Executive Director of the Peterborough Humane Society, expressed his enthusiasm for the new amenity, stating, “We are thrilled to bring this exciting amenity to our community. The opportunity to provide pets and people with an open space where they can enjoy some healthy exercise and promote overall enrichment is a great way to keep pets and people together.”
Pet Supply Warehouse, owned and operated locally, has also sponsored the ‘Kitty Cam Room’. Owner Ted LaBranche said, “We are so honoured to be a part of this exciting venture. This is a great space for our canine friends to get exercise, enrichment, and socialization. It is a wonderful addition to Peterborough!”
The Off-Leash Dog Park is open to the public during daylight hours, with no fee required to access the space. Regulations for park use are available both at the park and online at peterboroughhumanesociety.ca. While the park is free, donations to the shelter are welcome to support its ongoing work in the community.
