The Peterborough Theatre Guild opens its new season September 20th with the staging of two one-act plays at the Guild Hall on Rogers Street – one a world premiere drama and the other a multi award-winning comedy.
Written by Marni Walsh, A Ghost Story centres on Mary Shelley, the author of Frankenstein, and her mother, Mary Wollstonecraft, known best for her book A Vindication of the Rights of Women.
Director Lee Bolton says the story features themes that still resonate to this day, including a woman’s right to education – something that Wollstonecraft was a lifelong advocate for.
Meanwhile, Ben Muir’s How To Survive A Zombie Apocalypse sees four members of Dr. Dale’s School of Survival share everything we need to know to survive when the dead rise. Director Margaret Monis says choosing which of the two plays would be staged first was well thought out.
Monis says as opening night draws nearer, both her and Bolton are chomping at the bit to show what their respective casts can do.
