The Ministry of Education is auditing the finances of a school board in western Ontario following an expensive overnight retreat last month. The Thames Valley District School Board faced criticism after senior staff spent over $38,000 on a strategic planning session at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Toronto.
This comes at a time when the board is dealing with a $7.6 million deficit.
School board chair Beth Mai expressed confidence that the interim director, Bill Tucker, will effectively oversee efforts to enhance accountability and transparency.
