Take Back The Night returns to Peterborough today for a 46th year, with a large gathering in the Peterborough Square courtyard followed by a walk through the downtown core.
With the theme Shatter The Silence, the event is again being organized by the Kawartha Sexual Assault Centre in conjunction with a number of partners.
Centre communications, community engagement and fundraising coordinator Jocelyn Enright says the goal of Take Back The Night remains much the same – raise awareness that sexual assault and abuse “is still such a big issue” and that it is never acceptable.
Enright says things will start with partner agencies sharing resource information in the courtyard, followed by the main event.
Contrary to a still popular belief, Enright says all genders are encouraged to participate.
