The Strathroy Jets are getting set for the opening of a brand new hockey season as their season opener is Saturday in Dunnville. This week the Jets had a couple of skates to sort out a roster that is allowed to sign up to 35 players ranging from personnel fresh off of Junior B or C graduation to other players who have played some sort of pro hockey over the last few years. General Manager Bob Lalich says the roster is shaping up.
Lalich says this league works on a rating system for each player similar to a salary cap where you can only dress a roster that doesn’t go higher than a certain point total combined per game.
Obviously the team is looking to potentially bring in some key additions which means some players who have been with the team a few years may not play as much.
Of course any organization doesn’t work without community support and Lalich recognizes that.
The Jets open the season in Dunnville Saturday and their home opener will be October 4th versus Delhi at the gemini at 730.
