Today, grade seven and eight students from the Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) will engage in a day of learning alongside the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation and the Wampum Learning Lodge at Western University. National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and the event will feature a special solo performance by JUNO award-winning artist William Prince.
Thames Valley is committed to honoring residential school survivors and remembering those who never returned home. The TVDSB Indigenous Education Portfolio has created age-appropriate resources and lesson plans to support learning about the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Schools across Thames Valley have developed programs for students of all ages to reflect on and recognize this important day. On September 30, all TVDSB schools will lower their flags to half-mast and display messages on their signs in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Learning resources are available at: tvdsb.ca/EveryChildMatters.
