The Women’s Business Network of Peterborough is set to host its annual Holiday Gala and Auction.
The event goes on Wednesday, December 4th, at the Peterborough Holiday Inn. This year’s event will also include an Online Auction, which will run from November 20th to December 5th, concluding at 6 p.m. on the final day. The virtual auction will be hosted on the Nonprofit Bidding platform.
Proceeds from the gala will go toward supporting the critical programs and services of YWCA Peterborough Haliburton, with a special focus on aiding women experiencing gender-based violence. The WBN has set an ambitious fundraising goal of $15,000 to help sustain the YWCA’s essential work in providing safety and support for women and children escaping abusive situations in the community.
YWCA Peterborough Haliburton operates the Crossroads Shelter, which last year provided refuge for 121 women and 63 children, offering a total of 6,863 nights of safety.
“Every day, hundreds of women and children in Peterborough are deprived of the basic right to feel safe, even within their own homes,” said a spokesperson for WBN. “We are committed to making a difference and ensuring that every woman has the support she needs to rebuild her life.”
In preparation for the auction, the WBN is calling on the community to donate items, including gift certificates, tickets, memberships, or products valued at $25 or more. Donors will be recognized, with their company name or logo displayed alongside their contributed item, and will also receive exposure on WBN’s social media platforms and during the event.
