Strathroy-Caradoc is set to expand with a new housing development. Middlesex County this week approved a plan for a nearly 400-home subdivision in the northeast part of the municipality taking place on a 19-hectare property south of Second Street. The subdivision includes three blocks of mixed housing: one block will feature 226 high-density units, while two blocks will have 137 townhouses and 21 single or semi-detached homes. The remaining land will be reserved for future projects.
Strathroy-Caradoc has seen significant growth, with its population increasing by about 3,000 people from 2016 to 2021. Experts believe this trend will continue, leading to a higher demand for housing. The municipality aims to provide more affordable options and plans to incorporate a variety of housing types to meet community needs. Infrastructure improvements, including road upgrades and wastewater treatment enhancements, are also in the works to support this growth.
