Student safety continues to be monitored by the Thames Valley District School Board at SDCI in Strathroy. Recently myFM received information along with photos of some washrooms at the school locked to the wall to keep the entrance doors open and also toilets without stalls around them.
myFM reached out to Superintendent of Student Achievement with Thames Valley Sheila Builder who told myFM there is indeed one boys washroom that is wall locked to stay open.
Builder says there have been safety issues at the school that have helped to go down this road.
A second washroom currently has toilets inside with no protecting cubical walls, which Builder says stemmed from damage but this issue will be fixed as soon as possible.
She added the board is doing the best that they can, working towards full functional washrooms for all kids in all school in Thames Valley.
