A familiar face will be stepping in temporarily to fill some big shoes. Recently announced by the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation, following the announcement of the retirement of Foundation CEO Susan McLean, featured on myFM Thursday, the Foundation Board of Directors has appointed Julie McBrien, the current President and CEO of the Middlesex Hospital Alliance as the acting CEO of the foundation until a full time replacement can be found.
Both entities are connected as the Foundation raises money for the hospital and its equipment, and barring a specific donor’s request, the Alliance comprising Strathroy Hospital and Four Counties in Newbury is a key contributor to where the funds are allocated. myFM spoke with McBrien who said she was excited to fill this role.
McBrien says she offered her support to fill this role and said the decision was the Foundation board’s to make. She was asked if her holding these two prominent positions although one being temporary, but both being well connected was potentially a conflict of interest.
myFM also reached out to Mike McGuire, the Chairman of the Foundation board who says they are currently searching for a new CEO which is being facilitated by a professional consultant group. myFM also asked McGuire if there was discussion at all on the aspect of a potential conflict of interest.
myFM also reached out to outgoing retiring Foundation CEO Sue McLean was says she was surprised with the board move.
McBrien says she is ready to take on this new role no matter how long that is and that includes continuing to raise funds for the new MRI which is slated to be ready in the spring.
There is no compensation associated with this temporary support to the Foundation and McBrien will continue in her role as MHA President & CEO.
