The Strathroy Rockets won both of their games at the GOJHL Showcase event in Caledonia last weekend. On Friday they earned the extra point in a 5-4 overtime win over the Caledon Bombers before edging the host Caledonia Corvairs on Saturday by a 5-4 score.
Despite the pair of wins the Rockets failed to move up the standings as the Western Conference dominated the East going 16-6-1 in the 23 games played. For the third week the Rockets remain in 8th place but just a single point below London and Elmira and 2 points beneath Chatham.
The Rockets are also feeling pressure from below as the 9th place Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins have won their last 5 games and now are just 3 points below the Rockets for the 8th and final playoff spot.
Strathroy will resume Western Conference action this week as they travel to the Western Fair in London to battle the Nationals on Wednesday before hosting the St. Thomas Stars this Saturday at the WMMC.
