Strathroy-Caradoc Council has endorsed a proposal from the Community Development Advisory Committee to establish a community garden on a designated parcel of land near Park and Spence Streets. The project aims to enhance local green spaces and provide residents with gardening opportunities. Council also approved funding of up to $10,000 from the Progress Through Partnership program, matching a $10,000 donation from the Rotary Club of Strathroy for Phase 1 development.
This combined $20,000 will support the initial creation of garden boxes. The garden will be developed in three phases. Phase 1, with an estimated cost of $100,000, focuses on foundational infrastructure and box installations. Future phases will be considered during upcoming budget discussions, contingent on the success of the initial stage.
