Adelaide Metcalfe Township has approved its $11.57 million 2025 budget, aiming to address community needs while planning for future growth. The budget, passed in late December, introduces a 4.66% tax rate increase, which will add $100 annually for a residential property valued at $290,000 and $69 for a farm property assessed at $800,000.
The budget allocates $7.41 million to operating expenses and $4.16 million to capital projects. Approximately 70% of revenue will come from property taxes, with the rest funded by user fees, grants, and reserve transfers.
Key infrastructure projects include the Mullifarry Drive reconstruction, which will receive $1.45 million in 2025 as part of a $3.125 million multi-year project. Other initiatives include resurfacing Scotchmere Drive, upgrading County Lane, and rehabilitating the Katesville Drive bridge.
Nearly $1 million is allocated to public safety, including $583,000 for a new fire tanker and $375,000 for essential equipment. Rising operational costs, including insurance premiums and a 2% cost of living adjustment for staff, are also addressed.
Council approved the budget without public objections. Officials emphasized proactive financial strategies, such as reserve planning, to ensure long-term sustainability and support future development.
