Strathroy’s Jake Higgs will once again be going to the Brier, Canada’s men’s curling championships, but this time as a coach. Team Mooibroek out of the Whitby Curling Club had a clean sheet all week at the Ontario Curling Championships in Cobourg. It’s a young team that Higgs coaches and he says they played lights out all week.
Higgs has curled for many years including skipping at team from Nunavut at the Brier in London and also coaching a team from the United States in the Olympics and he got connected with this squad through those years of curling.
Higgs adds this team definitely has potential nationally, and he’s hoping when called upon that he can lend a hand when needed.
Team Mooibroek will now represent Ontario at the Montana’s Brier, February 28th to March 9th in Kelowna British Columbia.
Danielle Inglis’ rink along with Strathroy’s Kim Tuck as 5th defended their Ontario title in Cobourg and will represent Ontario at the women’s national championship, The Scotties in Thunder Bay.
