A place with a history worth sharing—King of Pigs Strathroy is celebrating its 10th anniversary this weekend! They will be celebrating this milestone with a buffet Sunday and additional festivities.
The name “King of the Pigs” comes from the Portuguese phrase “Rei dos Leitões,” which actually translates to “King of the Piglets.” This name first gained popularity in Bairrada, Portugal, a region famous for its unique style of roasting piglets, known as Leitão à Bairrada.
In 1992, Rei dos Leitões opened its doors in London, Ontario. The Vieira family took ownership in 2001 and introduced the restaurant beyond the Portuguese community. In 2009, they expanded by opening a second location in Cherryhill Mall, officially adopting the name King of the Pigs, a title already popular among our customers. Following that, a Strathroy location in 2015, and with three thriving locations, the restaurant has grown from a hidden gem to a well-established culinary staple in Strathroy, London and the surrounding area.
If you stop by the Strathroy location this weekend, they are offering a complimentary dessert table and 10% off all takeout orders in an appreciation of gratitude to all of their customers.
